Checklist for Selecting a Vestibular Diagnostic Testing Facility

Following is a checklist of questions to ask the facility evaluating your 'dizzy' or 'imbalance' symptoms and performing your VNG (videonystagmogram) or vestibular function testing.  Please see the detailed explanations by clicking on the links to the left as to why these are important considerations.

As a medical consumer, you want to be sure you are getting the best evaluation for your healthcare dollar.  You want to choose the facility with experience and which utilizes the most updated knowledge and technology.  A clinic which specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of your particular symptom or medical problem is optimal.

At BalanceMD, our primary focus is “dizziness”, “vertigo” and “imbalance”.  Our practice is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with these symptoms.

  • Is the physician who will be treating you a neuro-otologist or neuro-ophthalmologist?

  • Does most of the physician’s practice consist of treating patients with dizziness or vertigo?

  • Has the physician given lectures to other healthcare providers on the topic of ‘dizziness’?

  • If you are told that you would benefit from physical therapy, has the person performing vestibular rehabilitation (physical therapy) completed Susan Herdman’s advanced vestibular rehabilitation competency course?
